| whenever w, or any of the embedded americans for that matter, talks, its always like what the heck? lets see, w played ball with the women's beach volleyball team, and talked about human rights and religious freedom. i mean c'mon, this from the leader of a nation that incarcerates more people than the rest of the world, and sends in the army to take out inbreeding cults in the cottages of the deep south but hey, that generation of americans are known to proselytize, if they aint good at anything. being brought up in the greco-roman world, it wasnt until the past decade that i discovered how vast and deep civilizations truly are, and how much ive been missing. it was then that it felt like watching clumsy clowns playing tacky tricks when people from the west talk about how they are the world and i remain so judgemental. perhaps still trying to grow out of the inhibitive world of my childhood, and become part of something noble, into which i was born | | |

| we played dodgeball in boarding school. it was the annual games night the friday before the garden fete. i was fortunate to have taken part once, it happened more than ten years ago but i remember vividly the life i had. i will not like any place more, and possibly any phase of my life more. the years boarding will be the most special, it will be the subject of conversation for as long as we live and get together my formative years well, some people are born formed, hard headed and unyielding, most often to one's own detriment. us sagittarians are so stubborn that our characters are born formed. our formative years, therefore, become those when we associate our social contacts, which to the sagittarian would mean strictly friends, with the best of times we have in our lives brotherhood the brotherhood is formed during my time in this most prestigious school. we back each other. however the real world treat us, there is spirit and fraternity among us bigger than the real world, more real than the real world. we back each other. no questions asked. no matter how beaten, one can take on the world in the midst of the brotherhood. no matter how solitary, we bask together in the glory of the success of one. no matter that the days of our playing together as a team is over and we singularly fight our own good fights, our lives are as intertwined as we are on our own, for we were born of the same tradition, the same prestige, the paragon of preeminence. alone in our own paths, we take on the world united the real world hating you shall be a game played with cool hands and slim fingers - gwendolyn bennett | | |
